Amplify Introduces Post-by-Email!

Today we are excited to introduce post-by-email on Amplify, making it easier for you to spark conversation on a wider range of content from anywhere on any device across all your social networks!

To get your unique Amplify email address so you can start posting by email, visit Settings >> Post By Email.

Here’s an overview of how it works… whatever you provide as the subject of your email will be used as the title of your post.  If you want to microblog, simply leave the subject of your email blank.

The body of your email will be used as the content of your post.  Photos that are included in your email (either inline or as attachments) will be included in your Amp.  Post-by-email does not yet support video, but we plan to add that soon.

Like all content shared on Amplify, anything posted by email can simultaneously be auto-posted to Twitter, Facebook, Google Buzz, FriendFeed, Tumblr, Blogger, Posterous, WordPress or any of our other supported services.   You will have the option to easily auto-post to all or none of your default services, or even select specific ones to post to on a per-email basis.

After your email has been posted on Amplify, you will receive an email confirmation letting you know.

More specific instructions and examples are provided on the Post By Email page under Settings.

Hope you Enjoy!

    1. Russ Jackson  I’m in heaven. Whooo Hoooo. Awesome. As someone once said on TV I have a tingle going down my leg. Not that I do mind you. Whooo Hooooo!

    2. Svartling  Wow! I’ve been away today and oh man what good news I missed! :) Thank you for this!

      1. Svartling  RT @egoldstein Amplify’d: Amplify Introduces Post-by-Email! http://amplify.com/u/7yj6 - Awesome! Bye bye Posterous :)

        1. Kathy Nairn  RT @egoldstein Amplify’d: Amplify Introduces Post-by-Email! http://amplify.com/u/7yj6 Thank you Amplify team!

          1. Paul Simbeck-Hampson  RT @egoldstein Amplify’d: Amplify Introduces Post-by-Email! http://amplify.com/u/7yj6 < Thanks for the DM and TOP news, well done! :-)

            1. Tim Moore  Two words - Aww Some! Thanks Eric and the whole gang!

              1. Grey Drane  Maybe it’s too early for bug reports and feature requests, but a couple of quickies:

                1. I would have expected e-mails with empty bodies (or just commands in the first line) to be posted as “thoughts”, not as blog amps with no body. Can that be done?

                2. I see that amps posted by e-mail don’t get any auto-tagging. Can this be added. And is a command coming to set tags manually by e-mail?

                Anyway, very cool! Thanks!

                1. Svartling  If you leave the subject line empty and only type in the body it will be posted as a “Thought”.

                  1. Grey Drane  Ah! I guess I read it backwards. Silly me. :)

                    1. Grey Drane  Hmm… not quite. In the newsfeed it does appear “like” a thought, but in “My Amplify” in appears as an “Untitled” blog amp.

                      1. Eric Goldstein  Grey, this should be working correctly now.

                        1. Grey Drane  Indeed it is! Thanks again!

Didn’t convert my smiley this time, though. That’s kinda weird. It did in a previous post by e-mail.

                    2. Ben Jackson  It’s almost like you guys are too good to be true…

                      1. Kathy Jacobs  This is great news. Can’t wait to try it out. Though I see that I am too late to break it… Everyone else has reported the bugs and you all are fixing them already. THIS is why I love Amplify!

                        1. Ramon B. Nuez Jr.  Great — news!

                            1. Andrew Terry  What a great feature to add to the arsenal! Top work guys, keep it up!

                              1. Ed Webb  RT @egoldstein Amplify’d: Amplify Introduces Post-by-Email! http://amplify.com/u/7yj6 > better and better

                                1. Marty McPadden  Nice!! Makes it easy to post on the go.

                                  1. HansWobbe  Excellent !!

                                    1. Paul Simbeck-Hampson  Going to try again later… first post did not arrive?

                                      1. Dayna Marcum  Can’t wait to try it out!

                                        1. Grey Drane  ‘Nuther feature request: How about treating blockquote text in the e-mail message as clipped text? And taking the link from the message to use for the clip?

I suppose the problem might be the link bit, though. What if someone forgets to include the link? Or what if there’s more than one link in the message? Anyway, would be cool…. :)

                                            1. Nathan Rein  I’m a day late to the party, but whoa, the Amplify team just kicked it up a notch RT @egoldstein Post-by-Email! http://amplify.com/u/7yj6

                                              1. sit.sat.set.  Post by email does not include pictures with the Facebook feed, only links…any help

                                                1. Joe Hackman  Have you tried using Ping.fm to post to Facebook? I think that is your best chance of getting it to work. I have not tested but it is worth a try, let me know if it works for you. You might also want to try feeding Facebook using Hootsuite RSS, not sure if you will have better luck. Just ideas, anyone know?

                                                  1. Paul Simbeck-Hampson  Ping does not post images either (as far as i can remember) - google reader via ping does though…

                                                    1. Sean Dent  OK. Can you explain that explanation? G Reader via ping ?

                                                      1. Paul Simbeck-Hampson  You can set up Ping to post shared GReader items to your Ping Networks. You can actually take any RSS feed and share posts to your networks on Ping. Currently you can only use one RSS feed though… I use the RSS feed of my shared items.

                                                        1. Sean Dent  Thanks Paul. I tried to set up both with Ping.fm and kept getting errors. I’ll have to try again.

                                                          1. Paul Simbeck-Hampson  Just add your google reader login ID (first part of your gmail address before the @), it will then automatically find the correct feed address… hope that helps.

                                                            1. Sean Dent  yeah, I tried it several times. I have the correct sharing settings for my G Reader. For some reason kept getting an error. I’ll keep trying. Thanks again!

                                                2. sit.sat.set.  Thanks for the comments. Ping will post to a photo album, an Tumblr will post an image. I like the amplify process because it’s easy.Started at Tumbler went to Posterous and then to Amplify.

                                                  1. Renise  @egoldstein Is there a way to assign tags and a default category for posts by email? I have been searching and cannot find it.
